10 Ideas for the PERFECT Winter Winery Outfit!
I love wine tasting. I can go wine tasting basically any month out of the year, and still have an amazing time! I think it is so fun to see a winery through the different seasons of the year.
In spring, the weather is starting to get warmer, and flowers and trees are blooming. In summer, the sun (usually) feels good outside and nothing tastes better than a cold rosé while sitting in the shade. In fall, the harvest begins and I love tasting jammy Zinfandel. And in winter, it is fun to be snuggled up indoors at a winery sipping Cabernet Sauvignon or port!
With different seasons comes different weather. What to wear to a winery will change drastically as the seasons change. Plus, it’s fun to be dressed up “with the season!”
In spring and summer, I normally wear summer dresses, skirts and cute blouses. Whereas, in fall and winter, my sweaters and boots come out to keep me nice and warm!
Because of the seasons, I have a variety of wine tasting outfits that will keep me both cute and comfortable whatever the weather may be outside! I want to share with these incredible winter winery outfits, so you can gather ideas for what to wear wine tasting for your next big outing!

What to Wear to a Winery
First, let’s talk about outfit details for what to wear to a winery. Before deciding what to wear to a winery, you need to know a little bit more about the type of winery that you were going to. I have been to wineries that are as casual as jeans and a T-shirt, but I’ve also been to wineries where people are wearing nice dresses and you might feel out of place if you aren’t dressed up!
Typically, for wineries in well-known wine regions, such as Napa Valley, Willamette Valley, Tuscany, and Bordeaux, people tend to dress up. This typically makes sense if you think about it. Imagine booking a major trip to Tuscany but only wearing sweat pants while you wine taste, that wouldn’t feel right! If you have been looking forward to some thing for so long, it makes sense to want to dress your best while there!
For these wineries, I’m not talking black tie apparel, but it would be worth putting a little bit of time and thought into your outfit planning so that you feel comfortable in the atmosphere with other people, while looking your best.
There are other wine regions, typically underrated wine regions, such as Texas Hill Wine Country or Hermann, Missouri, where the attire is much more casual. It wouldn’t be frowned upon per se if you wanted to still dress up, but more casual attire is much more common! I would typically still wear at least jeans and a cute top to places like this, but there is much less of a dress code and you should feel comfortable wearing whatever you would like!
Overall, though, you want to keep both style and comfort in mind when picking out your wine tasting outfit! Although 4 inch heels may look *super cute* with your dress, keep in mind that you may have difficulty walking on uneven ground (especially after a tasting!) At the very least, I recommend bringing a change of shoes with you if you do decide to go for those heels, just incase you need something else to wear once you’ve snapped those adorable pics!
In conclusion: Determine how casual or how dressy the wine region is, then choose a wine tasting outfit from there. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes!
Winter Winery Outfits
When it comes to winter winery outfits, the same principles apply for other winery outfits, you just need warmer clothes and more layers!
I typically like wearing a coat, sweater, and boots, but will also try out dresses with tights. You can also wear a matching beanie with mittens to complete the look.
These winter winery outfits are hand-picked for you for the best looks that combine both style and comfort! Most of these outfits will pair well with boots to keep your feet warm.
3. Skirt + Tights
For a trendy and warm wine tasting outfit in winter, try wearing a plaid or patterned skirt with warm tights! My favorite tights are the ones with fleece on the inside to keep you nice and warm but still looking stylish!
