The Best Corfu Wineries

While there are not as many wineries on Corfu as there are on other islands, that doesn’t take away anything from how special they are! Many of the wineries in Corfu are open year round, but because they are family-run, will have less availability for tours and hospitality during harvest (usually anywhere from August- October).

The best time to visit Corfu for wineries, then, is during Spring and Summer seasons!

Lets get into the best wineries in Corfu you should visit!

1. Pontiglio Winery

Pontiglio Winery is a small family-run winery in the south part of the island of Corfu. During a visit to this winery, you will have the opportunity to take a tour of the property and sample several Corfu varietals, such as Kakotrigis, Petrokoritho, and Skopelitiko. A tasting here is only 10 euros, which is an absolute steal for the quality of wine, as well as the overall experience.

And, for anyone who also loves Greek food, Pontiglio Winery has a cooking class at their winery on Mondays! This is the perfect way to learn traditional Greek cooking while also enjoying their outstanding wine.

2. Theotoky Estate

Located in Giannades, Theotoky Estate is one of the oldest wineries on Corfu. They produce a variety of wines, including the local white variety Kakotrygis and the red variety Petrokoryntho. The estate also offers guided tours and tastings!

3. Grampsas Winery

Situated in Kato Korakiana, Grampsas Winery is a small family-owned winery and farm that produces organic wines. They focus on indigenous grape varieties like Kakotrygis, Petrokoryntho, and Robola. The winery offers tours and tastings, and visitors can also enjoy the beautiful countryside views.

4. Lefkada Winery

Lefkada Winery is a winery located in the village of Lefkada, known for its stunning views of the Ionian Sea. They produce a range of wines, including the local white variety Robola and the red variety Kakotrygis. The winery offers guided tours and tastings, as well as a restaurant where visitors can enjoy local cuisine paired with their wines.

5. The Governor Olive Mill and Winery

Situated in the village of Gastouri, this estate is known for its olive oil production, but they also produce a small amount of wine. The estate offers tours of its olive mill and winery, where visitors can learn about the production process and taste the estate’s products.

6. The Artisanal Winery

Located in the village of Kastelani, the Artisanal Winery produces a limited amount of wine, focusing on quality over quantity. They offer tours and tastings, where visitors can learn about the winemaking process and sample their wines.

Overall

These wineries offer a unique opportunity to explore Corfu’s wine culture and taste some of the island’s local varieties.

If you will have your own rental car, it would be worth exploring the wineries on your own, as you might have more time and opportunity to visit several. But, if you are short on time, or wish to have a tour guide, booking a wine tour is your best bet!

However, keep in mind that the wine scene in Corfu is still developing, and the island may not have as many wineries or as established a wine culture as other parts of Greece! But, that should not stop you from spending a day enjoying Corfu’s wineries!

And, Corfu is worth visiting for so many other reasons, with their small, family-run wine scene being the cherry on top!
